Within a few days before closing, you will have the opportunity to walk through the home one more time. The purpose of this walkthrough is to ensure that the home is in the same condition as when you made your offer to purchase it. This is also your chance to verify that any requested repairs have been completed and that personal property that was part of the sale has not been removed. You’ll also want to confirm that the seller did not leave behind any personal property that you do not want. Don't forget to check the attic if you can access it.

You’ll also want to make sure you have any garage codes, door openers, extra keys, manuals, and warranty information. The seller will most likely bring the keys and door openers to closing, but it's always a good idea to confirm this the day before closing.

By doing a final walkthrough, you'll be in a stronger position to catch any issues before closing. So take your time and be thorough – this is your last chance to make sure everything is just as it should be before you move in and start making your new house a home.
